CONTEST RULES FOR SWACO/CITY OF COLUMBUS/COLUMBUS CITY SCHOOLS DROP BOX RECYCLING CONTEST
The “Drop it in the Bin and Win” Contest is designed to promote recycling in the City of Columbus and at Columbus City Schools. It is sponsored by The City of Columbus, The Columbus City Schools, SWACO and Giant Eagle Inc. and will be held between October 1, 2007 and December 1, 2007. First place and runner up prizes will be awarded to the leading elementary, middle, and high schools as well as a first prize to the neighborhood association affiliated with the highest ranking school overall. The first place and runner up awards will be awarded to the schools with the highest weight and second highest weight of recyclables received per student at each school. Giant Eagle will present a $1,000.00 prize to each of the first place schools. It will also provide a $500.00 runner up prize in each of the school categories. A single first place prize of $500.00 will be awarded to the neighborhood association affiliated with the school that collects the most recyclables as measured by weight per student overall. The rules governing the "Drop It In The Bin And Win" Contest (the "Contest") are as follows:
1. Prizes will be awarded based upon the weight of recyclables collected per student during the period of October 1, 2007 through December 1, 2007. Only recyclables that have been deposited in the SWACO provided drop-off bins located at participating schools will be counted towards determining the Contest winners. SWACO, The City of Columbus, and the Columbus City Schools and/or the Contest Judges, reserve the right to use whatever method they deem to be reasonable in determining the total weight of recyclables collected and the weight of recyclables collected per student. In case of a tie, the names of the schools or neighborhood associations with equal amounts will be placed in a hat, and a winning name drawn at random. The number of students at any participating school shall be determined by the enrollment count provided by the Columbus City Schools on October 1, 2007. A first place prize of $1,000.00 each shall be awarded to the elementary school, middle school, and high school having the highest weight of recyclables collected per student. A runner-up prize of $500.00 each shall be awarded to the elementary school, middle school and high school having the second highest weight of recyclables collected per student. In addition, a prize of $500.00 will be awarded to the eligible neighborhood association aligned with the school which has the highest weight of recyclables collected per student. Prize money awarded to the winning schools must be used to further the Environmental Education of the students at that school and not for entertainment or food purposes. Prize money awarded to the winning neighborhood association may not be used for food or entertainment purposes and must be used to further environmental awareness in that neighborhood. The prize winning schools and Neighborhood Association shall submit a one page written report on how the prize money was used in accordance with these rules. Prizes will be awarded on or by December 21, 2007 and shall be provided by Giant Eagle Inc.
2. All Columbus City Schools with a SWACO recycling container accessible to the public are automatically eligible for the contest. If for any reason SWACO shall remove all of the recycling containers located at any participating school, or if the Columbus Public School District shall determine that the school is no longer eligible to participate in the Contest for any reason, that school, and any aligned Neighborhood Association, shall be immediately disqualified from the Contest.
3. A "Neighborhood Association" is eligible to participate in the Contest only if it has aligned itself with one eligible school located within the Neighborhood Association's geographic boundaries and which has registered with that eligible school's principal. A Neighborhood Association may only align itself with one eligible school during the course of the Contest. To register a neighborhood association with a particular school, the leader of that association should e-mail its desire to be associated with a particular school to recyclingcontest@swaco.org.

The Contest judges shall oversee the Contest, administer and interpret the Contest rules, determine the Contest winners, and award the Contest prizes. Contest judges may, at their sole discretion, disqualify from the Contest any otherwise eligible school or neighborhood association that violates any of these rules or that engages in fraudulent or unsportsmanlike behavior as determined by the Contest judges. All decisions of the Contest judges shall be final.
