History
COSR was co-founded by Dennis Hirsch and Neil Drobny in early 2005, and initially was called the Sustainability Roundtable of Central Ohio (SRCO). During informal conversation they learned that both believed there may be a need for a forum where people working in the diverse aspects of sustainability might come together for idea sharing, education, and collective pursuit of activities of interest.
An exploratory meeting was held on February 15, 2005 and was attended by about 30 people who expressed strong interest in supporting formation of the Roundtable. A steering committee was formed which guides Rountable programs. Typically the Roundtable meets every 6-8 weeks at the offices of The Design Group located at 515 East Main Street in downtown Columbus. Meetings start at 6pm and run about 90 minutes.
In July 2007 the Roundtable accepted an invitation to be a component of the Central Ohio Sustainability Alliance. At the time the name of the Roundtable was changed to the Central Ohio Sustainability Roundtable (COSR).
Meetings include networking opportunities and a speaker. Meeting plans are announced on the COSR Listserve. (See JOIN COSR for more details.)
