New Business Recycling Focus

It is estimated that sixty-percent of all waste at the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill comes from the commercial sector. With a goal to increase recycling, SWACO is developing new business programs.

SWACO has conducted local and national research to identify business standards, best practices, and challenges.

Thousands of businesses  and multi family properties across Franklin County were invited to participate in a survey to provide information to assist in the development of new business programming.  Throughout the rest of 2017, businesses and multi-family are invited to participate in the survey.

New Assistance Program

A Business Assistance Program is in development to provide educational resources, cost incentives and recognition opportunities for Franklin County businesses.

An outcome of the recently conducted survey included an invitation to participating business partners to review the new waste reduction and recycling resources.

Reviewing organizations included:

            City of New Albany

            City of Upper Arlington

             Columbus Crew SC

             Columbus Regional Airport Authority

             DNO, Inc.

             Hexion, Inc.

             Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission

             Ohio Department of Insurance

             Ohio EPA

             Pinnacle Pets Play and Stay

             Plum Run Winery/Grove City Brewing

             Sassafras Bakery

             White Castle

Based on the feedback, revisions will be made, and a launch of new programming is expected in the coming months. The program will be publicly available on the SWACO website.

In addition, case studies and success stories from partners will be offered, and updated often.  SWACO will continue to seek innovative collaboration opportunities to benefit the entire community.

Stay tuned to the SWACO website for new business tools and resources.
