It's Spring!

Consider these simple tips this Spring to have even more green in your life.

  • Avoid the use of chemicals in the garden or on the lawn. They eventually end up in the water systems and can upset the delicate balance of lifecycles
  • Collect rainwater to water your garden
  • Compost organic materials and garden leaves
  • Don't over-water the garden, and water only until the soil becomes moist, not soggy
  • Plant local species of trees, flowers and vegetables
  • Sweep leaves into flowerbeds or under shrubs to increase soil quality and reduce the need for watering
  • Use organic and environmentally friendly fertilizers and pesticides. They reduce pollution and are better for wildlife
  • Water the garden early in the morning or late in the evening to reduce water loss through evaporation
