Hours of operation are seasonal. Please call the appropriate facility for current hours of operation.

Yard waste can be disposed of several ways locally. Franklin County residents should contact the community in which they live to inquire about the procedures for curbside yard waste disposal. Franklin County residents and pre-approved areas may also take their yard waste to multiple locations throughout Franklin County.  To learn more visit:

Free for Franklin County residents 

Ohio Mulch

Homeowners, to drop-off yard waste free-of-charge, please meet these two requirements:

1. The homeowner is a resident of Franklin County, AND
2. The diameter of the material being dropped off is less than one-quarter (1/4) inch in diameter.

Com-Til Retail Office

Free for Franklin County residents 

The City of Columbus Com-Til Compost Facility provides free disposal of trees and bushes. Items not accepted include: plastic bags, trash, grass or sod.

Acceptable Materials

All materials must be placed in bulk form or in biodegradable paper bags:

  • Brush
  • Grass Clippings
  • Mixed Yard Waste
  • Christmas Trees
  • Stumps (No Root Balls)
  • Shrubbery
  • Leaves
  • Bulking Agents

Christmas Tree Recycling Information

The Christmas trees you set out for pick-up go to one of SWACO's sponsored compost facilities. Please be sure to remove all lights, ornaments, tinsel, and other decorations.
