Category: Leadership For implementation of exemplary, results-producing leadership that achieves positive community impact. The leadership should be focused on one or several of the following: recycling, reuse, green design, waste reduction or remanufacturing.Leadership Criteria:1. Seriousness of the problem/need addressed2. Quality of leadership exhibited3. Defined goals4. Documented results5. Innovative methods used6. Program replication and/or longevity if applicable7. Cost effectiveness – return on investment
Category: PartnershipFor implementation of successful partnership(s) between and among agencies, communities, groups, organizations and/or businesses that encourage activities such as reducing waste, recycling, reusing, buying recycled products and/or the manufacturing of recycled content products.Partnership Criteria:1. Nominations must represent a collaborative effort between two or more organizations/entities during the 2007 calendar year (can be businesses, agencies, communities, groups and/or individuals)2. Actions of the partnership may address one or more activities in the following categories and provide a documented summary of each partner’s efforts, in areas such as:• Waste Reduction • Recycling initiatives • Use of recycled materials • Development of new technologies focused on the aforementioned initiatives • Innovative research focused on the aforementioned initiatives • Program replication and/or longevity if applicable • Other

An estimation of the impact the relationship had within the community (i.e. quantity of materials recycled, amount of recycled product purchased, amount of litter collected, reduction in waste, media/community activation impact etc.)4. Documentation on prior environment/culture which led to the development of the partnership must be provided (even if partnership existed prior to 2007 and program has been in place for a number of years)5. Description of future plans, redevelopment/refinement and/or expansion of partnership
Category: InnovationFor developing new technology, material, methods practices or educational activities that hold promise to significantly improve the effectiveness of waste reduction in Central Ohio. Innovation Criteria:1. Patent/commercialization potential2. Scope of potential impact3. Challenges overcome4. Educational potential5. Program replication and/or longevity if applicable
Category: EntrepreneurshipFor establishment of a business, program or activity that provides a new product, service, or learning experience (or new ways of delivering an old product, service or experience) that has the potential to significantly improve the effectiveness of waste reduction in Central Ohio. Entrepreneurship Criteria:1. Scope of potential impact2. Chance of long term success3. Program replication and/or longevity if applicable4. Sustainability 5. Spinoff benefits (jobs, taxes, etc.)6. Challenges overcome7. Educational/outreach potential
Category: Environmental EducationIn recognition of educational programs that focus on teaching the value of the natural world. Educational programs would include one or several of the following aspects or points of emphasis:• Teaching environmental responsibility • Fostering positive perceptions of the natural world and its short- and long-term viability • Helping develop eco-friendly habits • Engaging people in environmental rejuvenation projects that help develop a meaningful and life long appreciation of, and respect for, nature

Category: Litter Clean UpIn recognition of individuals, civic groups, businesses, schools, or local government that promote, organize, or participate in litter clean up activities. Litter Clean Up Criteria:1. Community based clean up goals2. Organization of and participation in clean up activities3. Amount of trash cleaned up4. Documented results including community impact5. Innovative participation recruitment and clean up strategies6. Replication of the clean up program(s) if applicable
