2010 Central Ohio Emerald Awards Nomination Guidelines
(Entry must be based on actions, programs, and projects that occurred in the calendar year 2009)

Thank you for your interest in nominating an individual, business, organization orcommunity for an Emerald Award. This program is the premier recognition event in Central Ohio focusing on waste reduction and environmental stewardship. By submitting your nomination, you verify that all information is true and accurate. SWACO reserves the right to verify all submitted information.

You can complete your nomination online or by mail. Please call 614-871-5100 during business hours to get a copy of the mail in nomination form and guidelines.


Follow these steps to submit your nomination

1. You may submit a maximum of 4 pages of material.  No more than 2 of the pages may be of written content, and no more than 2 pages may be of photos, charts, or other supporting documentation. Each page must be8.5 x 11 in size. Font requirements are a minimum of 12 point Arial orTimes Roman. Entries through the mail should be submitted in MicrosoftWord or compatible Microsoft Word document. Online submissions should be in Microsoft Word or “.PDF” format. (Please remember to upload all supporting documentation with your nomination information.)
   
2. You must choose one category to submit your nomination and describe how the nomination fits the category. SWACO staff cannot assist you in this matter.

3. You must select ONE category to submit a nomination and describe how the nominee meets the criteria in that category. SWACO staff cannot assist you with this matter.  

4. Address how your nominee performed in as many of the criteria as possible. You must coordinate your responses with the order of the criteria listed under your chosen category. If your nominee does not meet a criterion because it does not apply, type NA next to it. See Nomination Example .

5. Complete all fields of the Nomination Information Form.

6. Once submitted, online entries will receive a message at the bottom of the page that says “Your form has been submitted.” Online entries will also receive a confirmation e-mail. If you submit your entry online and do not receive a confirmation e-mail within 24hours, please contact SWACO Director of Communications, John Remy.

Additional information
Nominations will be scored primarily on work & results achieved during calendar year 2009. The strongest nominations will be those that show sustainable results as evidenced by solid metrics. All decisions of the judges are final. Nominations that do not comply with the guidelines will be omitted.
