SUMMARY
Performs all duties as directed by Landfill Supervisor regarding equipment operation, traffic control, spotting trucks for dumping, assisting in cleaning and maintaining vehicles, buildings, and grounds. Reports directly to Landfill Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assig

  • Operates landfill equipment such as water truck, sweeper truck, roll-off truck, backhoe, and other equipment as needed.
  • Complete daily inspection logs and regulatory reporting forms.
  • Take accurate readings at leachate lift stations.
  • Repair erosion and leachate outbreaks.
  • Fuel vehicles and equipment.
  • Direct traffic to proper area for dumping and assures that vehicles are located properly prior to dumping.
  • Open landfill gates for business and lock gates at end of day.
  • Pick up windblown litter around landfill site and on access roads and highways.
  • Assist drivers of waste hauling trucks as needed.
  • Assist in cleaning of tracks and wheels of landfill equipment throughout the day.
  • Assist in installing metal poles and plastic litter fence around landfill site.
  • Clean offices and maintenance building.
  • Apply alternative daily cover, mulch, and grass seed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or an equivalent recognized certification.
  • Experience in maintenance activities and light/medium equipment operation.
  • Experience working at a Landfill is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires performance of physical activities that require moving one’s entire body, such as in climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, and kneeling; considerable use of the arms and legs, including use of hands to finger, handle or feel; reaching with hands and arms; and talking and hearing. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds or more. Will also climb ladders, use power tools and noise producing tools and equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and enter into spaces with limited working area. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK CONDITIONS
Work may be performed near moving mechanical parts, in elevated dangerous conditions and outdoors. Significant exposure to adverse weather conditions, sun exposure, cold, heat, loud noise, chemicals, dust, odors, fumes, mechanical hazards, fire hazards and electrical hazards.

Must be available for emergency call, shift work and mandatory overtime.

SUMMARY
Attends to all customers or visitors, answers all incoming calls and maintains an awareness of company personnel whereabouts. Performs clerical and secretarial duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Answers all incoming calls in a pleasant, professional and courteous manner by the third ring.
  • A general knowledge of SWACO programs is known and receptionist is able to answer frequently asked questions from the public. When the requested person is not available and no one else is able to answer the caller’s questions, follow company policy and procedure to take and deliver messages.
  • Transfer calls by using intercom and phone system.
  • Greets and handles walk-ins clients and vendors. Turns away solicitors in a clear, but friendly way.
  • Logs in front office deliveries and requests guest sign into the log book. Announces arrival of guests and parcels to the appropriate person, in a timely manner. Guests will be offered refreshments, such as coffee or water, while they wait for the staff member.
  • Collects and distributes mail, faxes and messages.
  • Maintains appearance of the reception area. All newspapers and periodicals are kept neatly and only timely reading material will be available.
  • Responsible for obtaining back up when unable to answer the phones.
  • Turns off equipment after use and transfers the phone system to night service at the end of the day.
  • Maintains copiers and fax machines, which includes keeping the machines stocked with paper and notifying repair and/or maintenances serves when machines are not functioning properly.

SUMMARY
Performs all duties as directed by Transfer Manager regarding solid waste transfer to the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill. Operates in a safe and courteous manner in accordance with all State of Ohio motor vehicle laws. Reports directly to Transfer Manager.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Operates Semi tractor trailers, trackhoes, front-end loaders, roll-off trucks and other equipment in a safe and courteous manner in accordance with all State of Ohio motor vehicle laws.
  • Secure all loads in accordance with State of Ohio motor vehicle laws.
  • Completes daily equipment inspection and drivers logs.
  • Maintain inside and outside equipment appearance/cleanliness.
  • Follow all SWACO facility rules and procedures.
  • Reports all accidents/incidents to immediate supervisor.
  • Reports equipment failures and malfunctions and completes repair order for Mechanics
  • Reports all safety concerns
  • Operate facility scales/computer program.
  • Fuel vehicles and equipment and record vehicle data accurately.
  • Direct traffic to proper area for dumping waste at transfer stations.
  • Assist in cleaning of equipment throughout the day.
  • Assist mechanic during the performance of basic maintenance on vehicles and equipment, for example change tires and retrieve parts.
  • Pick up wind blown litter around SWACO facilities, access roads and public roads adjacent to the site.
  • Open facility gates for business and lock gates at end of day.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma, GED or an equivalent recognized certification required.
  • Previous experience in operating semi-tractor trailers, trackhoes, front-end loaders, roll-off trucks or other equipment.
  • Experience backing onto a tipper is preferred
SKILLS
  • Operation of: Light, medium, and heavy equipment.
