Check Your Green Pulse with SWACO

Check Your Green Pulse

How do you measure up when it comes to going green? It’s easy to find out with SWACO. Businesses, governments, school districts, and non-profits can log on to SWACO’s E-TRAC. This user friendly online green barometer collects, analyzes, and reports information that tracks your environmental accomplishments. E-TRAC can also be helpful in controlling your environmental and waste management costs. Costs and activities can be monitored on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual basis. Participants in SWACO’s E-TRAC will also be able to chart their impact when it comes to reducing global warming (based on U.S. EPA models).

SWACO Executive Director Ron Mills calls E-TRAC an easy process that can return multiple benefits. “Many Central Ohio businesses, governments, and non- profits have made serious commitments to cutting their waste and promoting recycling. This is a great way to track the green return on their green investment. Around 60% of what comes to SWACO’s Franklin County landfill is from businesses. E-TRAC can help lessen a company’s environmental footprint and is a great way to show corporate responsibility.” Mills also believes the information provided by E-TRAC to be a great marketing tool when customers ask a business; “How green are you?”

SWACO’s E-TRAC system works for local offices of national and regional companies as well. If a corporate office asks how green things are locally, Central Ohio branch offices using E-TRAC can easily reply.

All private information entered into SWACO’s E-TRAC survey system remains private. Once a password and user name are established the historical data and the results are visible to the user alone. SWACO gathers the information collectively to better report local environmental achievements to the Ohio EPA. SWACO is requesting current users of the E-TRAC to report their 2009 data by March 15th.
