Nail-A-Dumper

You can fight back when you see someone
litter along Central Ohio highways!

When you see someone litter, call 614-871-5322. Operators at the 24-hour-a-day service will take the information (time of day, make of vehicles, what was littered etc) and turn it over to The Franklin County Environmental Crimes Unit which is funded by SWACO. Those who litter will receive a letter reminding them of the penalties for littering if an officer had seen the incident.

The Nail-A-Dumper hotline and website (www.nailadumper.com) also provides an opportunity for residents and businesses to report illegal dumping. Deputies from the Environmental Crimes Unit will follow up and make every effort to prosecute the culprits.

The Environmental Crimes Unit is made up of representatives from The Franklin County Board of Health, The Franklin County Prosecutor’s office, The Franklin County Sheriff’s office and the Columbus Division of Refuse.

Adopt-A-Roadway

When it comes to controlling litter in your community, be part of the solution! The perfect opportunity for citizen groups and organizations to help control litter is to participate in the Adopt-A-Roadway Program. When your organization signs on to Adopt-A-Roadway, you commit to cleaning a 2-mile stretch of road four times a year. The program provides all legal papers for your organization to sign and road signs for the community to install. In addition, we provide adopting organizations with a kit that contains a how-to video, gloves, orange vests, and bags. Call 614-871-5100 for more information.
