PLEASE NOTE:
Latex/Water Base paint WILL NOT be accepted at SWACO HHW collections.
Latex paint is water soluble and can be dried out for disposal in the trash.There are paint hardeners available in stores or you can mix the paint with cat litter or sawdust. Leave the lid off to speed up the process. When the paint is dry, throw it in with your regular trash.

PERMANENT HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE LOCATION
SWACO provides free HHW disposal services for all Franklin County residents. SWACO contracts Environmental Enterprises Incorporated (EEI) based out of Cincinnati, in offering free residential recycling for HHW. Thank you for buying less hazardous alternatives when possible!
1249 Essex Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43201 (The corner of E. 8th and Essex Avenue) Phone- 614-294-1300Hours at the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Center have been expanded. An extra day has also been added for the convenience of residents of Franklin County. Residents can bring their old lawn chemicals, paints strippers, acids, insecticides, etc (See list below) for recycling and/or environmentally safe disposal. EEI provides disposal of water based paint to all Franklin County residents at the cost of $1 per any size can. Businesses should contact EEI to inquire about the disposal of hazardous materials at a commercially licensed facility.
