The City of Columbus, SWACO, Goodwill Columbus, the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio and the Ohio History Connection have teamed up to present the fourth annual Columbus Green Purge Event. It will be held on the Ohio History Connection grounds on October 21st from 8:00am-2:00pm.
“We are proud to partner with these amazing agencies to offer this recycling event to our residents,” said Mayor Andrew J. Ginther. “Responsibly disposing of household hazardous waste and donating items that can be recycled and reused are important to the well-being our community.”
The event is for residents to come and purge their unwanted items. The following organizations will be onsite to accept donations to be reused, recycled or disposed of responsibly:
- SWACO- Household hazardous waste (paint disposal is $1/can)
- Goodwill Columbus- Clothing, household items, electronics and accessories
- Furniture Bank of Central Ohio- Furniture and appliances
“Safely disposing of your unwanted items at this little-to-no cost community event is good for the environment and easy on your wallet,” said Ty Marsh, SWACO’s Executive Director.

Those participating in the Columbus Green Purge will receive a buy one, get one free admission on October 21st to the Ohio History Center & Ohio Village. The coupon can be found online at www.columbus.gov/greenpurge .
