Achieving a Higher Diversion Rate
SWACO is beginning 2018 with great momentum, especially when it comes to diversion rates. For the first time, the community has achieved a higher rate (46.5%) of diverting materials away from the Franklin County Sanitary Landfill.
As a steward for managing the solid waste in the area, we are working harder to explore avenues for reducing waste and turning recycled materials into assets for reinvestment in the community.
Poll Results Guide SWACO Plans
SWACO has worked hard over the past four years to increase transparency and communication.
In November, SWACO engaged a research firm to survey 600 randomly selected Franklin County residents with a goal to more deeply understand the community’s attitudes and observations about recycling and waste reduction. The results of this poll tell a great story about the character and potential of the community.
