2027 Community Waste Reduction Grant Applications Are Open!

SWACO is now accepting applications for the 2027 Community Waste Reduction Grant (CWRG) cycle and you could get up to $50,000 to help your organization meet its sustainability goals and cut waste in our community.

Eligible applicants include local governments and nonprofit organizations including cities, townships, villages, parks, K-12 schools, colleges, universities, hospitals, and faith-based organizations.

Projects must take place within the SWACO jurisdiction, and applicants are strongly encouraged to contact the SWACO Grants Administrator before drafting an application.  Applications are open now and due on August 7th, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

Summer is a season filled with events, and SWACO supports many of those local events through its Container Loan Program, providing waste sorting and disposal stations so attendees can enjoy events responsibly. When you attend these events, you’re not just having fun — you are also helping keep central Ohio clean and green.

  • Composting 101 Webinar
    • Want to keep your food scraps out of the landfill but not sure how to get started? Join us for Composting 101, a free one-hour webinar to learn about the basics of turning food scraps and yard waste into a valuable resource at home, from backyard piles, bins, and tumblers to worm bins, community programs, and drop-off options. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to expand your knowledge, there’s a composting method for everyone!
  • Bexley Bike Workshops
    • Choose to reuse with the Bexley Bicycle Workshop. On the first Saturday of every month this summer, volunteer bike mechanics will be hosting a workshop at 2808 Delmar Dr. in Bexley from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to help residents learn how to repair their own bikes. It’s a valuable, money-saving skill, and the mechanics will also be working on bicycles that have been donated for kids and families in need.   • Free Landfill Tour
    • Did you know that you can tour the landfill? Join us on Saturday, September 12th for a fun and informative tour of the landfill to learn all about how SWACO safely manages all of our community’s waste, as well as some of the actions that you can take to help reduce your reliance on the landfill by reusing, recycling, and composting. This free tour takes about an hour and a half, and is open to any Franklin County resident. Click HERE to register today!
