Save More Than Food

Facilitated by SWACO and the Central Ohio Food Waste Initiative (COFWI), the Save More Than Food waste education and awareness campaign is designed to help Central Ohio communities better understand the impact of food waste in our community and the steps that each of us can take to make a difference. The website provides localized resources specific to four different audiences: home, school, work, and food business and aims to help central Ohio cut regional food waste in half by 2030. Visit our school PreventionDonation, and Compost pages for more school resources.

World Wildlife Foundation - Food Waste Warrior Curriculum

1.3 billion tons of food is wasted each year nationally. In Franklin County alone, nearly a million pounds of food arrives at the landfill daily. Wasted food means a loss of natural resources used for growing, processing, packing, transporting, and marketing as well. The Food Waste Warrior Curriculum includes lessons, activities, and other resources for grades K-12, focused on educating students about why food waste matters and what they can do to help reduce it.  Check out the Food Waste Warrior Curriculum.
