SWACO’s Recycling Convenience Center is dedicated to providing a convenient and accessible location for Franklin County residents to recycle a wide range of materials and reduce the environmental impact of waste disposal.
The Center serves as a one-stop destination for individuals seeking a hassle-free avenue to recycle a diverse array of materials. By eliminating the complexity often associated with recycling, SWACO intends to make it second nature for Franklin County residents to divert recyclable items from landfills, fostering a more sustainable future for our region.

- Prescription pill bottles with lids (must be empty)
- Pumpkin and gourds (October 1 - December 14; items should be free of candles and paint)
- Select yard waste (branches, grass clippings, limbs, logs, untreated woodchips and brush)

- Styrofoam packaging (packing peanuts and food containers NOT Accepted)

- Used motor oil, antifreeze, and oil filters
- Yard signs including plastic, coroplast, and paper signs and their metal stands
Select yard waste pertains to certain items like logs, limbs and branches, untreated woodchips and brush. The following items are NOT accepted at the Recycling Convenience Center: soil or dirt, or treated wood.
How paper shredding works - Residents can bring paper documents to the Recycling Convenience Center for shredding. Materials should be placed in the locked cart, which is accessible only to the site attendant. The attendant will shred the documents using the facility’s shredder. Once shredded, the paper is no longer recognizable and is then recycled.

Tires - $5.00 per tire
LCD TV Monitor - $15.00
CRTs Below 20” - $25.00
CRTs Below 35” - $35.00
CRTs Above 35" - $45.00
LCD TVs are flat screens (not computer monitors)
CRT TVs are old-fashion, cube-like TVs/monitors

SWACO accepts credit, debit or check payments only.
Please note that all credit and debit cards are charged a 3% processing fee.

Additional locations for the recycling and disposal of materials in Franklin County.
SWACO’s Household Hazardous Waste Facility, located at 645 E. 8th Avenue, now also accepts:
- Food scraps
- Scrap metal and appliances (including appliances with freon)
- Large blocks of Styrofoam, including packaging and coolers (no peanuts or food packaging)
The facility is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the first Saturday of every month from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
