Communities

We Can Help Your Community Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

Throughout SWACO’s District, we stand ready to assist city, village, and township administrations with their recycling and waste reduction needs. We provide technical assistance, guidance on best management practices, and a variety of programs and resources designed to strengthen and enhance waste reduction, reuse, and recycling efforts in your community.

Assistance through SWACO’s community-based programs includes:

Consortium Program

The Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) has 41 communities located in their solid waste management district, which includes 15 cities, 17 townships, and 9 villages.

Food Waste Reduction

Nearly one million pounds of food waste is landfilled in Franklin County every single day.

Grants

SWACO is working hard to make central Ohio a leader by turning up the volume on issues involving diversion and waste reduction, and provide program grants to put it into action.

Recycling Drop-Off Program

Special Collection Opportunities

By recycling and properly disposing of materials, communities help reduce pollution, contribute to clean water, conserve limited natural resources and reduce central Ohio’s reliance on landfills.

Recycling & Organics Education

Throughout Franklin County, SWACO helps communities connect with their residents about recycling and food waste diversion opportunities through education campaigns that foster consistent messaging and promote best practices. SWACO’s Recycle Right and Save More Than Food campaigns are available to communities and have professionally designed marketing materials and videos that target audiences at home, work, school, and businesses.
