Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives

Who They Are

Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives represent a unified network of 25 member-owned, not-for-profit electric cooperatives serving communities across the state, along with Buckeye Power Inc., the generation cooperative owned by those members. Together, Ohio’s electric cooperatives provide electricity to more than 1 million Ohioans in 77 of the state’s 88 counties, supporting families, businesses and essential services across urban, suburban and rural communities.

Why They’re a Champion

Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives enhanced their existing recycling program by adding collection containers to capture hard-to-recycle plastics through the Hefty Renew Program. Custom signage was also implemented to help improve diversion efforts among employees. In addition, Ohio’s Electric Cooperatives participated in a “lunch and learn” session with SWACO to learn more about the updated recycling program and accepted materials.
