Worthington Enterprises

Who They Are

Worthington Enterprises designs and manufactures building and consumer products used in homes and businesses. It is the nation’s only maker of many sizes of steel cylinders used for cooking, heating, refrigeration and cooling, water systems, foam insulation, sealants and adhesives. The company’s brands also supply products trusted by campers, contractors and DIYers.

Why They’re a Champion

Worthington Enterprises is recognized by SWACO as a Business Recycling and Food Waste Champion for its commitment to expanding waste diversion opportunities across its campus. While the company already had a strong recycling program in place, its partnership with SWACO helped enhance those efforts through the implementation of deskside recycling and the addition of 15 centralized collection stations designed to follow recycling best practices. These stations feature image-based signage, blue recycling containers and Saturn-style lid openings to help employees correctly sort materials.

Worthington Enterprises also became the first organization to achieve dual certification through SWACO’s Business Champions Program by earning recognition for both recycling and food waste reduction. To support its new composting program, the company introduced food scrap collection in food preparation areas and installed compost collection containers at cafeteria waste stations, making it easier for employees to participate.

As part of launching the initiative, Worthington Enterprises received support for its new food waste hauling service, including six months of compost hauling reimbursement. By expanding recycling and introducing campuswide composting, the company continues to demonstrate leadership in sustainability and serves as a model for workplace waste reduction.
