Franklin County is home to hundreds of public events and festivals each year which welcome many thousands of people to our community and boost our local economy. They also generate tons of additional waste that is then sent to the Franklin County Landfill. You can help divert some of that waste for reuse, recycling, or composting, and SWACO can help with an Event Waste Reduction Grant (EWRG).
Whether you’re looking to offset the cost of waste diversion efforts like recycling bottles and cans, composting food scraps, or if you want to learn about best practices for hosting a green event, the EWRG program is designed to help, and applying is easy. Applicants can request up to $6,000 to help offset the costs related to recycling and composting equipment, signage, and professional services. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, year-round, but must be received at least eight weeks before the event date.
