SWACO’s 3R Ambassadors program is a volunteer opportunity for adults who want to learn more about waste reduction and help their communities reduce, reuse and recycle. Participants complete a six-week training focused on waste reduction, sustainable consumption, reuse, composting and recycling. After completing the training, Ambassadors volunteer 20 hours throughout the year through community education, outreach, projects and activities that help reduce waste and divert materials from landfills. The deadline to apply is October 16, 2026, at midnight. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance within two weeks of the application deadline and will receive information about next steps.Application RequirementsBefore applying, please confirm that you meet all of the following requirements: You are at least 18 years old. You live in Franklin County, Ohio, within SWACO’s jurisdiction. You are available to attend all six classes, including field trips. See the class dates above. You can commit to volunteering at least 20 hours throughout the year after completing the training. You are willing to complete a routine criminal background check. SWACO covers the cost.
