Recycling and household hazardous waste aren’t the only things that shouldn’t go in your residential trash. Old prescription medicines should also be disposed of safely. This coming Saturday, October 25 is your chance to do just that with the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. The event is a partnership with local law enforcement throughout the nation and helps keep these potentially dangerous medicines out of the landfill, out of the environment, and out of your house where they could harm children or pets. Recycle Your Political Yard Signs After the Election
This time of year, political yard signs of all types sprout up in yards and public rights of way throughout central Ohio. These metal, plastic, and paper signs are a vital way for voters to express themselves and to encourage their neighbors to vote, but once the election is over, they often become clutter in our garages and litter on the roadside.
Fortunately, there are several convenient, easy, and free ways to recycle those signs so that they don’t end up in the Franklin County Landfill. SWACO is sponsoring two different ways to recycle your yard signs this year:
- SWACO Recycling Convenience Center Drop-Off
2566 Jackson Pike in Columbus
Collecting signs throughout the entire month of November.
- Board of Elections Drop-Offs
1700 Morse Road in Columbus
November 5th through November 30th
