School Recycling Champion Program

The School Recycling Champion program was created to assist schools in Franklin County, Ohio begin or improve their recycling programs. The program is designed to help schools build a successful, sustainable, comprehensive program that can serve as a model to other schools within or outside of the school district.

Upon completion of the program, schools will receive recognition as a School Recycling Champion with an award, window decal, and media promotion.

School Recycling Champion Application

The School Recycling Champion program supports schools located in Franklin County that are starting or working towards enhancing their recycling efforts. It aims to help schools develop sustainable, model recycling programs. Requirements to participate in the School Recycling Champion Program: Your school must have an outdoor recycling dumpster with collection and haul-away services in place. Please check by looking outside near your school's trash dumpster for a recycling dumpster. If you do not have a company providing recycling service, reach out to the proper school or district leader to help you get recycling service set up. Do not apply unless you have recycling haul-away service in place. Your school or at least 50% of the district MUST be in Franklin County to qualify. Please email [email protected] if you are not sure. Your principal/ administrator is aware and supportive of your application to the School Recycling Champion Program. If your application is approved, SWACO will help you assess your needs and provide indoor containers for collecting recyclables from classrooms and other areas of the school. The budget amount will depend on the number of classrooms and students at the school. After receiving your application, SWACO will contact you to discuss the next steps. **The following personnel are eligible to complete this form: teachers, students, administrators or other school representatives.
