Do Good with Goodwill

A box

When household items no longer bring you joy or the kids have outgrown the gear from their latest obsession, you can keep your carbon footprint small by donating these items instead of throwing them away. Donation allows items you no longer want or need, but which are still in good working order, to remain in use and maximize the valuable materials that were used to produce them. Central Ohio is fortunate to be home to dozens of donation centers and secondhand shops where items can be given a second life. To find a center or shop near you, click here.

In early 2025, SWACO awarded a grant to Goodwill Columbus to support their launch of a new donation loyalty rewards program with the goal of helping to keep even more of central Ohio’s valuables out of the landfill.

“Do Good” incentivizes users who donate clothing and goods at any Goodwill Columbus location. Users can join Do Good on their mobile device and begin earning points for any donation they make. Points will be redeemable for various discounts, rewards, and community-based experiences.

Members will earn points simply for donating, although Goodwill Columbus does plan to add a shopping component in the future.

In addition to discounts and rewards, active Do Good members will also be invited to attend exclusive in-store workshops ranging from candle pouring events, kids clinics, art classes using donated materials, and much more.
