April is Earth Month, and to help you celebrate, we’ve curated an impressive lineup of educational webinars and home and work recycling tips to help you go green and stay green all year long. In addition, we’re taking a moment to highlight some of our favorite Earth Day celebrations in central Ohio that you won’t want to miss and share about some inspiring central Ohio businesses’ Earth Day celebrations.

Recycle Right with these Tips

At Home

  • Packaging is Key – Purchase products with minimal or recyclable packaging to reduce the amount of material sent to the landfill.
  • How Clean Should They Be? Don’t obsess over how clean your recyclables are. The main goal is to make sure they’re empty and give them a quick rinse if needed.
  • Go Paperless – Opt for an e-receipt when at the store and consider digital subscriptions for your favorite magazines.
  • Size Matters – Items such as bottle and jug caps and metal can tabs are too small to be recycled alone. Either leave them on bottles and cans and recycle them together or discard individual caps and tabs in the trash.
  • Recycle Solar Eclipse Glasses – Drop off your gently used eclipse glasses at one of these participating locations and help make the future brighter and safer for young stargazers.

At Work

  • Educate Employees – Take advantage of Earth Day to talk about your companies’ recycling goals, achievements, and initiatives so everyone can make a difference in achieving them.
  • Form a Green Team – Help your business stay on track for meeting recycling initiatives and sustainability goals.
  • Signage – It’s just as important to have signage for the landfill bin as it is for the recycling bin.
  • Twin the Bin – Always have a recycling and trash bin side by side so employees can place items correctly.
