SWACO and the City of Columbus Team Up to Offer Free Household Hazardous Waste Collection for Franklin County Residents

This summer, SWACO is partnering with local communities to keep Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) out of the Franklin County Landfill by offering free drop-off events throughout the county.  This weekend’s event is in Columbus, and other mobile collection events will follow in September and October in Grove City and Westerville, respectively.  In addition, SWACO maintains a permanent HHW collection point at 645 E. 8th Avenue in Columbus.

Event Information:

Columbus HHW Mobile Collection Event

Saturday, July 18th from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm

1550 Georgesville Rd. Columbus, OH 43228

More Information:

Households generate a wide range of poisonous, dangerous, flammable and corrosive products, including lawn chemicals, solvents, household cleaners and pool chemicals. These materials should not be thrown away with household garbage. Instead, they should be taken to a mobile collection event or SWACO’s permanent HHW facility located at 645 E. 8th Avenue in Columbus.

Saturday’s event is at the City of Columbus Waste and Reuse Convenience Center, so in addition to HHW, residents can bring other harder-to-recycle items for disposal, such as electronics, Styrofoam and scrap metal.
