"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn."
SWACO's school recycling resources were developed to provide teachers, students, and custodians a variety of activities and tools for implementing successful recycling programs. Resources are geared toward outreach, education, and best management practices.
SWACO is Now Accepting Applications for the 2021-2022
School Recycling Champion Program!
The program provides infrastructure dollars and education resources to implement school-wide recycling programs. This program is designed to help schools implement comprehensive, sustainable recycling programs that teach students and staff how to recycle right at school. Eligible schools can receive financial assistance to support the purchase of blue recycling containers for classrooms and other school areas.
Applications will be accepted throughout summer 2021, until the start of the upcoming school year. In exchange for receiving recycling containers for your school, schools will be asked to commit to assessing the current recycling program, adopt recycling best practices, and educate staff and students with educational resources provided by SWACO. Upon completion, schools will receive a certificate and banner, and SWACO will publicly recognize each school for its efforts to become a Recycling Champion!
